barking mad

working K9 to 5

Our love for the web is rivalled by only one thing… our penchant for pooches, so we were thrilled to celebrate Bring Your Dog to Work Day last week. Meet our honorary Uprise barketers – Buddy the Cavachon and Bailey the Cockapoo.

Bring Your Dog To Work Day isn’t just a fun alternative to the regular 9-5 day, it’s also for a great cause. The annual event raises valuable funds for different dog charities. This year, all proceeds went to the dog rescue charity All Dogs Matter, a charity that rehomes hundreds of dogs in London and Norfolk every year. A dog-filled day to raise money for charity? We were panting at the prospect!

A lot of companies, including Mashable, Google and Amazon, have their pets in the office all year round. While many business might only get to do it once a year, like us they make the most of this one-off dog-friendly day! As well as raising funds for a worthy cause, having dogs in the office can have positive effects on employee well-being and productivity.

In fact, our client, Paramount Interiors went into a bit more detail on this subject and blogged about the benefits of Pets at Work (PAW) policies. We definitely noticed some of the benefits of having a dog-friendly office, even if it was just for the day. Uprise is generally an upbeat place to work, even without the dogs, but staff morale was higher than normal. We also noticed that Buddy and Bailey were an interesting ice-breaker for our clients. Admittedly, our furry friends weren’t much help when it came to lending a helping paw with coding and copywriting, but they definitely brought a touch of Friday fun into the office.

Here are a few snaps from the day.

Whilst Bring Your Dog To Work Day might be over for another year, there’s still time left to donate.

Since everyone enjoyed it so much, our canine colleagues might even make a return before next year’s official date.
