Another week, another new project
It’s fair to say that we’ve had a busy year at upriseVSI, from various new projects and events to being featured in the Fast Growth 50. And we’re pleased to say that we’re maintaining the pace after welcoming another new client on board. We’re delighted to announce that we’re working with Retail Merchandising Services (RMS) to develop a bespoke web application for staff scheduling and a project management system.
For those who don’t know, the late entrepreneur, Peter O’Toole, founded RMS in 2005. The Newport based business is one of the UK’s leading providers of merchandising solutions to the retail sector. Its clients include household names such as Tesco, Waitrose and B&Q. In 2015, the turnover of the company was £9 million.
RMS regularly deploy over 1,000 staff who can be called on at any time to travel to customer stores where they undertake merchandising projects. With plans to further grow the business' presence, RMS need a web based solution to help manage its staff, customers and the increasing number of projects that it delivers. As you can imagine, every retailer has their own specific requirements, service levels and working practices. By having its own bespoke software solution, RMS will be able to improve the company’s service and efficiency as well as providing valuable information and analytics to RMS and its customers.
A bespoke project
Daniel O’Toole, Managing Director of RMS, commented, “We have experienced a significant growth in the number of projects that we are delivering for customers and these are becoming increasingly complex. Our aim is to continually improve our performance and the quality of our service as well as providing our customers with the transparency of real time information to be able to monitor and control their merchandising activities.”
“Our workforce is growing extremely quickly and we work remotely at our customers’ stores. In order to manage projects successfully in the future, our management team identified the need to systemise every aspect of the supply chain and to develop an online solution that will manage projects from the point when a work request is received from a customer through to completion of the project. The system that upriseVSI are developing for us will benefit the business in a number of ways including improving partner service levels and delivery, optimising employee performance, enhancing management information reporting, and it will also make our finance processes more efficient and robust.
Our Technical Director, Mark, said “We are looking forward to working with the team at RMS to develop a bespoke web based software solution that will cater for all of RMS’s needs as an outsourced retail merchandiser. We will be using our own technology platform to develop the solution, which will be fully responsive to mobile and tablet devices, meaning that both RMS and their customers will be able to access the operational and management information they require quickly and easily wherever they are.”
“This is the type of challenging business systems analysis and technology project that we love to undertake at upriseVSI. We focus on addressing the issues that our client is facing and aim to improve efficiency whilst delivering a greater commercial return. When completed, RMS will have a total retail merchandising solution that is capable of not just meeting its current needs but is also scalable for the company to continue growing. It will also be flexible enough for RMS to incorporate new services in the future.”
