Neilson Active holidays have been a client of upriseVSI for almost 20 years. During this time we have designed and developed 7 versions of their website.

The Brief

The latest website needed to be responsive, integrated with their database of holidays and controlled with a flexible content management system. It needed to offer a customer community area and integrate with both the company-wide CRM solution, developed by upriseVSI, and the pre-departure email programme. They also wanted a CRM solution for their marketing database and call centre application to access customer information, together with a Customer Survey Questionnaire (CSQ) solution.

One of the key aspects of the brief was to ensure customers could quickly and easily search for holidays and show up-to-date pricing from the Neilson reservation system. It also needed to filter or sort results so that users could find the holiday they wanted in seconds.

With so many of Neilson’s customers using mobile devices to view the website, an effective responsive experience was essential for the whole site. This included everything from website content and search panels to holiday results and the interactive customer community area.

thinkCMS (Content Management System)

Our thinkCMS solution has been heavily modified to suit the product-led architecture of the Neilson website. The hierarchy of country, resort and accommodation is used to drive the product-based content pages. The content management system enables all aspects of a product to be easily set up with just a few clicks.

All of the necessary pages, tabs, links, SEO titling and URLs are created automatically. For Neilson and other similar clients, this focused and efficient approach has led to productivity improvements. Product managers can concentrate on copy and imagery, rather than having to spend time administering the website. The eCommerce team can focus on selecting products for yield rather than developing HTML.

Anite Integration

upriseVSI had been working with Anite for several years, integrating their reservation systems into client websites. With Neilson Active Holidays, we seamlessly integrated their website with the Anite booking engine. This allows customers to search for holidays based on their own criteria directly from the site. The upriseVSI platform then provides middleware for sorting, filtering and displaying the results instantly.

Throughout the project, upriseVSI advised and made suggestions to Anite in order to improve the integration between the two software platforms. The result has been the delivery of an award-winning online booking solution for Neilson and improved customer-satisfaction levels when holidays are booked.

Pre-Departure Email Programme

Our innovative email marketing programme developed for Neilson Active Holidays is built on our thinkCRM and automated marketing solutions. Customers are automatically sent personalised emails containing information and offers specific to their destination and product. Our system even obtains prices from third-party suppliers, such as airport parking specifically for a customer’s flight time, and includes this in the email with a direct link for easy booking.

thinkCRM can also deliver rule-based automated email marketing for the anniversary-of-booking emails, up-converted quotes and up-selling extras. For example, the CRM knows when you booked and can send the customer an email the following year, 2-3 weeks prior to their last booking date. Since this is when they are likely to be thinking about a holiday, customers are more likely to respond.

Customer Survey

The upriseVSI customer survey (CSQ) software provides a comprehensive solution for travel companies looking to gain valuable feedback on their customer experience and product performance. Linked directly from the email programme, the customer is contacted after their holiday and automatically logged into a secure area where they can complete a simple survey.

Our management information systems (MIS), delivers the feedback as statistical reports, providing easy access for analysis by all areas of the business. The web application allows Neilson to drill down into resorts, accommodation and specific question groups. This invaluable information can help to improve on-going service and levels of customer satisfaction, potentially increasing the number of repeat customers.
