The Celtic Manor Resort is a world-renowned five-star business, golf and leisure resort that has hosted The Ryder Cup and the NATO Summit.

The Brief

The resort required a new website and content management platform that could integrate with multiple reservation systems and marketing tools.

With a strong track record in the travel and leisure sector, upriseVSI was selected to deliver the project. A key element of the project was to provide online booking for bedrooms across Celtic Manor's four different accommodation venues, with the ability to book golf tee times on their four courses. Finally, the whole site needed to be controlled with an easy to use content management system. Bespoke functionality was also required to facilitate Celtic Manor's marketing schedule.

Mobile Responsive Website

We adapted the existing mobile version of the website for optimal viewing on smartphones, incorporating a new responsive layout. This enabled a more satisfactory visual experience on all pages and social areas such as the blogs and forum. For bookings, we optimised the system to give it the look and feel of a mobile app, using HTML 5. This made for a swift and easy booking experience, with customers able to make room reservations in just a few clicks.

thinkCMS (Content Management System)

The content for the entire Celtic Manor website is managed centrally through our thinkCMS content management system. This provides Celtic Manor with full visibility and control over all content across the website pages, events, offers, blog and members areas. With the ability to easily embed video, images, widgets and documents in just a few clicks, the client is able to quickly and simply keep the site updated and fresh. In addition, SEO and Social Media integration is built in as standard within the CMS, as well as QR codes and Tiny URL links for every page, as required.

Multiple API Integration

The Celtic Manor Resort has multiple booking systems for room reservations (Micros Opera), tee times and membership (Concept), and restaurant bookings (ResDiary). They also use a specialist email system to issue and manage all of their email communications (Adestra).

Our team of integration specialists were able to bring together all of these booking systems into one seamless website. Also, where the reservation systems could only provide raw data, upriseVSI built middleware to allow Celtic Manor’s yield team to have control over pricing and components for the website. The integration included a sophisticated audit of all XML communication, so incomplete bookings and errors were logged and could be traced.

The bespoke shopping cart developed by upriseVSI for Celtic Manor is integrated with the RealEx payment gateway for online bookings. Customers that book online can access a ‘My Booking’ area after completion to update their details or cancel a reservation.

thinkCRM (Customer Relationship Management)

Providing first class customer service and experience is crucial to a business such as Celtic Manor. Our thinkCRM customer relationship management solution plays a major role in creating positive relations with customers old and new. Integrating the various systems within Celtic Manor into thinkCRM, not only ensures data integrity, but also allows us to deliver a full customer relations solution from which the Celtic Manor can effectively communicate with their clients.

Utilising the data stored through customer details and transactions, Celtic Manor can gain accurate customer insight from trend analysis and purchasing activity. This in turn can be used to tailor their services and to more accurately target their marketing activity.

The Celtic Manor Resort makes extensive use of social media to market the website, events and offers. As an integral part of the upriseVSI website platform, we ensure that Celtic Manor’s Social Media engagement is managed with ease. Our software allows us to embed controls for channels such as twitter which can filter the account to exclude bad language. It also includes caching for performance which means that the tweet renders instantly within the feed.

"VSI-thinking helped us design and implement an excellent mobile booking journey with a responsive design, which ensured a consistent user interface for any device."
